1. Hello, listening friends.

2. If you are joining this broadcast for the first time,

3. we have just begun a series of messages from 2 Peter;

4. and we looked at the seven-story building that is the Christian life.
上一次,我们学习了建造基督徒生命的“七层大厦”。

5. We found that faith is the foundation.
信心是这座大厦的根基,

6. Here are the seven stories:
在根基上面,就是七层大厦:

7. first, virtue,
第一层是德行,

8. then, knowledge,
第二层是知识,

9. then, self-control,
再往上一层是节制,

10. then, perseverance,
再就是忍耐,

11. then, godliness,
然后是虔敬,

12. then, brotherly love.
再就是爱弟兄的心,

13. Finally, Peter adds divine love.
最上一层,是爱众人的心。

14. Next, Peter tells us that now we know what to do, we must do it.
跟着彼得说,我们既然知道应当怎样行,就要行出来。

15. If you have your Bible with you, please turn to 2 Peter, Chapter 1, verses 10 to 21.

16. Let us read it together.
我们一起来读。

17. I want to begin by telling you about an experiment that two social scientists went through.
我想从两位社会科学家所做的实验说起。

18. These two social scientists went to a class of young schoolchildren to spend several weeks doing their experiment.
这两位科学家花了好几周的时间,到某个小学的班级里去做这项实验。

19. They sat in the back of the classroom with a stopwatch.
他们拿着一只秒表坐在教室的最后面,

20. They were carefully observing the behavior of both the children and the teacher.
他们仔细观察老师和学生的举止动作。

21. Every ten seconds, they recorded in their notepads how many times the children got up out of their seats.
每10秒钟,他们就记录一次在这段时间内学生离开座位的次数。

22. On the average, the children were standing 360 times in every twenty-minute period.
平均来说,每20分钟,学生站起来360次。

23. During this time, the teacher yelled, “Sit down!” seven times in every twenty-minute period.
在这20分钟内,老师有7次要大声喊他们:“坐下﹗”

24. The social scientists suggested that the teacher would increase the number of times that she would yell, “Sit down...”
社会科学家建议老师增加喊“坐下”的次数。

25. so, according to the observers, the next few days produced the following results:
接下来的几天,他们观察到以下的结果:

26. the teacher yelled “Sit down” an average of 27.5 times in twenty-minute periods.
老师在20分钟内平均喊“坐下”27.5次,

27. Did that change the behavior of the children?
学生的行为有没有改变呢?

28. Indeed, it did, but not the way you might expect.
确实有,但不是你所想象的那样。

29. The children were out of their seats 540 times for each period of twenty minutes.
学生在每20分钟之内,离开座位540次。

30. That was an increase of about fifty percent.
大约增加了百分之五十。

31. Why am I telling you this story?
我为什么要讲这件事呢?

32. Because the children responded more to positive remarks than negative ones.
因为学生都喜欢正面的鼓励,不喜欢负面的批评。

33. We all respond to people who affirm and encourage us and build us up,
其实,我们都喜欢得到别人的肯定和鼓励。

34. and this is exactly what the Apostle Peter is doing in his Epistle.
这正是使徒彼得在他的书信里所用的方法。

35. He is speaking to spiritually young believers who are in danger of being misled by false teachers;
他写信给在信仰上刚起步,容易受假师傅迷惑的信徒;

36. so, he was not yelling at them, but rather leading them positively.
他不是对他们大喊大叫,而是积极地引导他们。

37. First, he told them about the seven-story structure;
首先,他告诉他们关于这座七层大厦;

38. then, in verse 10, he tells them that the way to prove to the world that you have responded to the call of God in your life is to see to it that you are doing these things;
然后在第十节,他说,应当在所蒙的恩召和拣选上坚定不移地遵行神所吩咐的,证明给世人看。

39. and, here, he says to them, “Now that you know the right thing to do, do it.”
在这里,他说:“你们既知道应当怎样行,就要行出来。”

40. Doing the right thing will keep you from grief.
行当行的事,免得你将来忧伤痛悔。

41. Doing the right thing will keep you from slipping back into the old nature.
行当行的事,就能保守你不至于跌倒,不会退回老我的性情里去。

42. In verse 11, Peter said
11节彼得说:

43. your reward in Heaven is going to be dependent on the degree of your conformity to Christ.
这样,必叫你们丰丰富富的得以进入,我们主救主耶稣基督永远的国。

44. My listening friends, listen very carefully.
我亲爱的朋友,请听我说,

45. All the born again believers will get to Heaven.
所有重生得救的基督徒都能进入神的国。

46. Why?
为什么呢?

47. Because you do not get to Heaven on the basis of your work.
因为不是靠着你的行为而进入神的国度,

48. You get to Heaven because Christ redeemed you on the cross;
你之所以能进入神的国,是因为耶稣在十字架上救赎了你。

49. but, once you get to Heaven, there are going to be different rewards,
然而,在天国里有不同的奖赏。

50. and Peter is saying that your reward is going to depend on your willingness to reside in this seven-story building.
彼得所要告诉我们的是,你的奖赏取决于你是否愿意住在这座‘七层大厦’里。

51. In verse 12, instead of yelling, “Sit down!” at the believers,
在12节,彼得没有对信徒大喊:“坐下!”

52. Peter is saying that you have everything you need to help you live a victorious life;
他反而鼓励他们说:你们已经具备所有过得胜生活的条件。

53. but Peter also is saying to the new believers
同时,彼得也对初信主的基督徒说:

54. that it is my call in life to constantly remind you to be ready;
他说,主呼召我,就是为了要不断地提醒你们,随时预备好自己;

55. that I am going to be on call all the time to remind you;
我自己也时刻准备着来提醒你们;

56. that I am dedicating my life to remind you of these truths.
我奉献一生就是为了在真道上提醒你们。

57. When he was on earth, Peter could remind them in person and by letter.
当彼得在世的时候,他可以当面或用信件来提醒他们,

58. Peter now reminds us through the Scripture.
而现在,彼得只能通过圣经来提醒我们。

59. In verse 10, Peter tells believers that living in these truths will keep them from stumbling.
在第十节,彼得对信徒说,只要他们在真道上坚定不移,就永不失脚。

60. Do you know how we stumble in our Christian life?
你知道一个基督徒跌倒的原因吗?

61. We stumble when we are not paying attention to where we’re stepping.
当我们不留意所踏之地的时候,就会跌倒;

62. We stumble when we become preoccupied with other things and pay no attention to where we’re going.
当我们的心被其它事物占据,而疏忽了我们前进的方向时,就会跌倒。

63. Next in verse 12,
接下来,在12节那里,

64. Peter is saying,
彼得说:

65. “I made it my life’s goal to encourage you and to lift you up.”
“我一生的目标就是要鼓励并提醒你们。”

66. Peter is saying, “I am here to gently remind you; to positively affirm you.”
彼得的意思是:“我会温柔地提醒你们,积极地引导你们。”

67. Peter says, “Do what you already know you ought to do.”
他说:“做你当做的事。”

68. Here, Peter comes to the matter of accountability,
在这里,彼得提到有关责任的问题。

69. and the secret of accountability is love.
责任的秘诀就是爱。

70. When I know that you love me,
当我知道你爱我的时候,

71. and when I know that your desire for me is my success,
当我得知你渴望我成功的时候,

72. then, it is a joy for me to be accountable to you.
我就会乐于向你负责。

73. When I know that you want the best for me,
当我得知你一切都是为我的好处着想时,

74. there is nothing that you are going to say to me that will hurt my feelings.
无论你说什么,都不会令我难过。

75. My listening friends—especially fathers and mothers—please listen to this very carefully.
我亲爱的朋友,特别是作父母的朋友们,请仔细听我说,

76. When your children know and experience your love,
当你的孩子了解,并体验到你对他们的爱时,

77. they will be delighted to be accountable to you.
他们也就会欣然遵行你的话。

78. When you affirm and encourage your children,
当你肯定、鼓励你的儿女,

79. and when you are genuinely and positively reminding them of what they already know,
并且真诚地、正面地提醒他们已经明白的事,

80. they will respond.
他们一定会做出回应的。

81. It is the same thing with husbands and wives.
夫妻之间也是同样的道理。

82. When you affirm your spouse instead of nagging them,
当你肯定你的配偶,而不是一味地唠叨;

83. when you positively and lovingly uplift your spouse when he or she is down,
当你的配偶情绪低落时,你能够积极地、关切地鼓励他,

84. even when you must firmly remind them to do what they already know what they are supposed to do,
甚至,当你提醒他们作他们应该去做的那些事情时,

85. they will be glad to respond back to you in a positive way.
他们也会高兴地、积极地对你做出回应。

86. Why is Peter so sensitive and persistent in motivating these spiritually young believers not to follow false teachers?
为什么彼得这么敏感并坚持地告诫信徒,不要随从那些假师傅呢?

87. It is because he knows from his own personal experience; he knows failure and restoration.
因为他从自己的人生经历中,学到了失败和重建的功课。

88. Peter knew what it was like when Jesus so lovingly yet firmly restored him from his failure.
彼得明白主耶稣是怎样以锲而不舍的爱,扶持他从失败中重新站起来。

89. Can you imagine what went on in Peter’s mind after he denied the Lord with profanity?
你能想象,当彼得三次不认主以后的感觉吗?

90. The Bible says,
圣经上说:

91. “…and Jesus turned and looked at Peter.”
“耶稣转过身来看彼得。”

92. You can imagine how badly Peter must have felt.
你能想象得出,当时彼得的心情有多么的糟糕。

93. Judas betrayed Jesus and, then, he ended his own life;
犹大出卖了耶稣,然后去上吊死了;

94. but Peter did not end his own life like Judas.
彼得并没有像犹大那样去结束自己的生命,

95. The difference between Judas and Peter
犹大和彼得之间有区别。

96. is that Peter had finally developed humility and the willingness to be restored;
他们的区别就在于,彼得最后谦卑下来,并且愿意从失败中重新站起来。

97. therefore, Peter is concerned for all believers that they must not only start well,
所以,彼得对信徒所关心的就是,他们不仅要有一个好的开始,

98. but they also must finish well.
也要有一个好的结束。

99. You may be a person who has denied the Lord in your business dealings.
也许,你曾经在做生意时否认过主;

100. You may be a person who has denied the Lord in your moral conduct.
也许,你曾经在道德行为上否认过主;

101. You may be a person who has denied the Lord in betraying your marriage vows.
也许,你曾经因背叛你的婚约而否认过主;

102. You may be a person who has denied the Lord by belittling others.
也许你曾经因轻视别人而否认过主;

103. You may be a person who has denied the Lord in bitterness and boiling hatred and anger.
也许,你曾经因苦毒、恼恨和愤怒而否认过主;

104. You may be a person who has denied the Lord in jealousy and revenge
也许,你曾经因嫉妒和仇恨而否认过主,

105. and, deep down, you are carrying these burdens
在内心深处,你背着这些重担,

106. and your pride is stopping you from brokenness
你的骄傲自大使你无法让老我破碎;

107. and your pride is stopping you from confession
你的傲慢阻止你承认自己的过犯;

108. and your pride is stopping you from restoration.
你的骄傲使你无法从失败中站起来,

109. I want you to ask the Lord who restored Peter,
你应该祈求那位曾经重建彼得的主,

110. and turned him into a loving, persistent, consistent exalter,
主改变他,使他成为一个满有爱心、恒久忍耐,鼓励别人的人,

111. to do the same thing for you.
今天,主也会同样改变你。

112. Pray with me as we pray to the Lord to restore you today.
请和我一起祷告,求主今天就复兴你。

113. "Lord Jesus Christ,
“主耶稣基督,

114. I confess my betrayal of you.
我承认我曾经背叛了你;

115. I confess my anger and my bitterness and my hatred.
我也承认在我心中存有苦毒、恼恨和愤怒;

116. I confess my lack of faithfulness.
我向你承认我信心的贫乏。

117. Forgive me for Your sake.
为了你名的缘故,求你饶恕我的罪;

118. Restore me for Your work
为了你自己的工作,求你复兴我,

119. and for Your glory.
愿你的名得荣耀,

120. Amen."
