3. we have just started a series on the second Epistle of Peter.

4. Last time, we saw that, when Peter introduced himself as a servant of Christ, he does it deliberately.

5. He is reminding us that leadership is knowing how to serve the living God.

6. Peter tells us that the power of the Holy Spirit is available to all who are born again through the blood of Jesus Christ.
彼得告诉我们，所有在基督耶稣的宝血里重生的人，都可以支取圣灵的能力。
7. This power will give you victory over sin and evil;
这种能力可以让你战胜罪恶；
8. and Peter also tells us that there are three things that are foundational if you want to live a victorious life.
同时彼得也告诉我们，想要过一个得胜的生活，有三个基础。
9. Last time, we looked at the first one that’s found in verse 3 of Chapter 1.
上一次我们学习了第一点，它记在第1章的第3节。
10. Peter says that, first, you must recognize the divine power that God has already given you;
彼得说，第一，你必须认识到神所赐给你属天的能力；
11. and, in 2 Peter, Chapter 1, verse 4,
彼得后书第1章第4节那里，
12. Peter tells believers that they must not only recognize the power given to all believers;
彼得告诉信徒，他们不仅要认识从神而来的能力，
13. but all believers must appropriate these great and precious promises that God has given them.
而且所有的基督徒必须要支取，神所赐的那又宝贵，又极大的应许。
14. The word "precious" here means "valuable" or "costly."
“宝贵”这个词在这里的意思就是，“有价值的”或者是“昂贵的”意思。
15. It is a favorite word to Peter.
这是彼得最喜欢用的一个词。
16. He refers to the blood of Jesus Christ as the "precious" blood of Jesus Christ.
当他提到耶稣基督所流的血，他说：耶稣基督的“宝血”。
17. He refers to our faith as "precious."
当他提到信心的时候就说，我们“宝贵的”信心 。
18. The word "precious" is not a frivolous word;
“宝贵”这个词不是随意使用的；
19. so, what are these "precious" promises?
那么，这些“宝贵的”应许是什么呢？
20. Peter is thinking of the words of Jesus in John 16,
彼得想起了约翰福音16章那里，耶稣所说的话：
21. “It is better for you if I go to the Father, for when I go to the Father, I will send the Comforter to you…”
“我到父那里去是与你们有益的，我若往父那里去，就差保惠师到你们这里来……”
22. and, on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit of God came with power and now dwells in the lives of believers.
到了五旬节，圣灵大有能力地降临在信徒身上，并住在他们心中。
23. Jesus kept His word.
耶稣的话从不落空。
24. Now, we can be partakers of God’s power through the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit in us;
现今我们可以通过住在我们里面的圣灵，就能有份于神的能力。
25. and that is why Paul could say, in 2 Corinthians 5:17,
正因为如此，保罗在哥林多后书5章17节那里说：
26. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.”
“若有人在基督里，他就是新造的人；旧事已过，都变成新的了。”
27. By the power of the Holy Spirit, God’s divine nature replaced yours.
借着圣灵的大能，神属天的性情取代了你原来的本性。
28. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you are the Simon who has become Peter.
借着圣灵的大能，你就能从西门变为彼得。
29. My listening friends, I want to ask you some questions.
亲爱的朋友，我想问你一些问题。
30. How many of you really know about the divine nature that’s available to all believers?
有多少人真正理解，基督徒所能得到的属天性情呢？
31. How many of you have never appropriated that power?
又有多少人从没有支取过神的能力呢？
32. If you have never appropriated that power,
假如你从没有支取过，
33. it is because you have not allowed the Holy Spirit of God to possess you.
那是因为你没有让圣灵进入，并住在你心里。
34. Peter says that, as believers, we must recognize the divine power of the Holy Spirit.
彼得说，一个基督徒必须认识圣灵的大能。
35. Peter said that, as believers, we must appropriate that power;
彼得又说，一个基督徒必须支取神的大能。
36. but Peter also tells us that the promise of God also does something else.
但是，彼得同时也告诉我们，神的应许也会成就其他的事，
37. It allows us to escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.
神应许让我们脱离这个世界从情欲而来的败坏。
38. Here, Peter is edging toward his deepest concern for new believers.
在这里，彼得逐渐表达出他对那些初信者的深切关怀。
39. He is saying that, when you walk and live in the power of the Holy Spirit,
他的意思是，当你的生活言行都顺着圣灵大能的引导，
40. you are walking in the opposite direction of our natural desires.
你就正在远离‘老我’。
41. Paul said the same things in Galatians 5:16.
保罗在加拉太书5章16节那里讲了同样的话。
42. “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
“你们当顺着圣灵而行，就不放纵肉体的情欲了。
43. Believers must recognize the divine power of the Holy Spirit.
基督徒必须认识圣灵的大能；
44. Believers must appropriate the power of the Holy Spirit.
基督徒必须支取圣灵的大能；
45. Believers must walk in the Spirit and avoid sin.
基督徒必须顺着圣灵行事，才能避免犯罪。
46. Now that Peter laid the foundation of our faith,
彼得为我们的信心打下了基础，
47. he goes on to tell us about the seven-story structure that we must build if we are to have victory in our lives.
他接着告诉我们，如果我们要过一个得胜的生活，必须建造一座七层楼的大厦。
48. Faith in Jesus Christ equals divine nature equals spiritual power.
在基督耶稣里的信心就是属神的性情，也是圣灵的大能，
49. This is the foundation of the building;
它是这座大厦的根基。
50. but Peter does not stop with the foundation.
但是彼得不仅停留在根基上，
51. You have to get the building built.
如果要建好这座大厦，
52. The foundation is important,
地基固然重要，
53. but the building is also important;
大厦本身也同样重要。
54. so, what is that seven-story building?
那么，这七层楼到底是什么呢？
55. The first floor of the building is found in verse 5.
第一层记在第五节，
56. It is the floor of virtue.
就是“德行”层。
57. He said, “Add virtue to faith.”
他说，“有了信心，又要加上德行。”
58. The word "virtue" is literally translated "moral excellence."
“德行”这个词，字面的意义就是“美好的品德”。
59. Moral excellence means that you mean what you say.
“美好的品德”指的就是，你说的话都是真心话。
60. When you say "yes," you mean yes, and when you say "no," you mean no.
“是”就说“是”，“不是”就说 “不是”。
61. Moral excellence means being faithful to your spouse.
“美好的品德”就是，对你的配偶忠实。
62. Moral excellence means that you do not take your employer’s time to do personal things.
“美好的品德”就是，你不用上班的时间来做自己的事情。
63. Moral excellence means, to young people, that you obey your parents and you do not rebel against them.
对年轻人来说，“美好的品德”就是，孝敬、顺服你的父母。
64. Virtue is the strength and the power to say "no" to sin and "yes" to God.
德行是一种对罪说“不” ，和对神说“是”的能力。
65. Abraham was not virtuous when he lied and said Sarah was his sister.
亚伯拉罕在说撒拉是他妹子的时候，是没有德行的。
66. Moses was not virtuous when he struck the rock instead of talking to it.
摩西在他应该吩咐盘石，却用杖击打盘石的时候，是缺乏德行的。
67. David was not virtuous when he took another man’s wife into his arms.
大卫王在他占有别人妻子的时候，是不道德的。
68. Peter was not virtuous when he denied the Lord with profanity.
彼得在不认主的时候，是没有德行的。
69. Virtue means that you are not double-minded.
有德行的人不会三心二意。
70. The second story in the building is knowledge.
大厦的第二层是“知识”。
71. The word "knowledge" in this verse does not mean facts.
“知识”在这里不是指“资讯”。
72. There are a lot of believers who know a lot of facts about the Christian life.
有很多信徒十分清楚基督徒生活的实况，
73. They read their Bibles and they get information and facts.
他们通过读圣经，学到了很多相关的资讯，
74. That is not what Peter means by "knowledge."
但这不是彼得所指的“知识”。
75. Knowledge means learning through a relationship.
“知识”是通过人际关系学来的；
76. Knowledge is what comes out of an experience.
“知识”是从生活中体验来的。
77. In your marriage, Peter tells husbands, in 1 Peter 3:7,
在婚姻关系上，彼得在彼得前书三章7节告诉做丈夫的，
78. to “live with your wives according to knowledge.”
“你们作丈夫的，也要按知识和妻子同住。”
79. That means that you know her well enough to know what makes her sad and what makes her happy.
就是说，你要真正地了解她，才能明白她的悲喜好恶。
80. Knowledge means that you understand God’s character and God’s will as you learn it from His Word.
“知识”指的就是，你通过学习神的话语来明白神的性情和旨意。
81. Knowledge means that you understand God’s will for your life that you learn from your intimacy with Him in prayer.
“知识”就是通过祷告与神亲密相处，而明白神在你生命中的旨意。
82. Knowledge is the ability to discern His voice when He speaks to your heart;
“知识”是当神对你说话的时候，你能分辨出祂的声音。
83. and this knowledge will build you up in the faith.
这种知识会帮助你的信心得到造就。
84. In verse 6,
在第六节，
85. Peter tells us that the third story of the seven-story building is self-control.
彼得告诉我们，这座七层大厦 的第三层是“节制”。
86. You cannot grow in Christ in your Christian walk without self-discipline and self-control.
作为一个基督徒，如果没有节制和自我约束的话，就不能在基督里成长。
87. There must be discipline in your prayer life.
你要锻练自己，建立祷告的生活；
88. There must be discipline in your study of the Word of God.
你要锻练自己，好好学习神的话语；
89. There must be discipline in your use of time.
你要锻练自己，善于利用你的时间；
90. There must be discipline in curbing your appetites.
你要锻练自己，控制你的饮食习惯。
91. If you are not disciplined in all these areas, chances are the Lord is not a priority for you.
如果你不在这些方面锻练自己，很可能你并没有尊主为大。
92. Paul is a good role model of self-control and discipline.
保罗在节制和自我约束方面给我们作了美好的榜样。
93. Listen to what he said in 1 Corinthians 9:26:
请听他在哥林多前书9章26节所说的话：
94. “I do not run aimlessly. I do not box as one beating the air; but I plummet my body and subdue it lest after preaching to others, I myself should stand aside.”
“所以我奔跑，不像无定向的；我斗拳，不像打空气的。我是攻克己身，叫身服我；恐怕我传福音给别人，自己反被弃绝了。”
95. Self-discipline, therefore, is making your body to be your servant and not your master;
因此，“节制”就是你克制肉体，而不是你受肉体的操纵。
96. then, we see the fourth building of this seven-story building is perseverance.
现在我们来看看这座大厦的第四层，就是“忍耐”。
97. Patient endurance is an alien word to so many people in our world today.
“忍耐”这个词在当今这个世代，对许多人来说已经相当陌生了。
98. This word literally means to remain under stress or to be steady under pressure.
这个词直接的解释就是，在压力下保持稳定不变。
99. It may be that some of you today are going through difficult times;
目前也许有些人正遭遇困难，
100. but, remember that God is more than willing to give you the power to continue when you have done all, that you can stand firm in His Word.
请记住，当你尽全力坚守神话语的原则时，神将迫不及待地赐给你继续往前走的力量。
101. Many times, we are tempted to quit too early and miss out on God’s blessing.
很多时候，我们太早放弃，以致失去了神的赐福。
102. The fifth story in the building is godliness.
大厦的第五层是“虔敬”。
103. It means God-likeness.
“虔敬”就是“效法神”的意思。
104. It means that there has to be such a supernatural quality in a believer’s conduct.
它指的是，一个基督徒在行为方面所表现出来的超凡品格。
105. It means that the world can look at you and know that you’re a child of your heavenly Father.
也就是说，世人看见你，就能认出你是天父的儿女。
106. The family likeness should be understandable and discernable.
一家人的样貌相像，应该是很容易辨认，也是人人都懂的道理。
107. In verse 7, Peter tells us about floor number six and floor number seven.
在第7节中，彼得告诉我们关于大厦的第六层和第七层。
108. One is brotherly affection,
第六层是“爱弟兄的心”，
109. and the other is divine love.
第七层是“爱众人的心”。
110. At a glance, you might think that the two top stories in that building look alike,
乍一看，你也许会认为，顶部的这两层差不多，
111. but they are very different.
其实，它们有很大的区别。
112. Brotherly affection is what we have for each other as brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus.
“爱弟兄的心”，指的是在主耶稣基督里，弟兄姐妹之间的彼此相爱。
113. Divine love is what God produces in us even to the point of being willing to lay our lives down for each other.
“爱众人的心”是从神而来，在我们里面产生愿意彼此舍己的心。
114. Let me summarize again.
让我来总结一下。
115. Faith is the foundation;
信心是基础；
116. then, add virtue to faith.
有了信心，又要加上德行；
117. Add knowledge to virtue,
有了德行，又要加上知识；
118. and self-control to knowledge;
有了知识，又要加上节制；
119. and perseverance to self-control.
有了节制，又要加上忍耐；
120. Add godliness to perseverance,
有了忍耐，又要加上虔敬；
121. and brotherly love to godliness;
有了虔敬，又要加上爱弟兄的心；
122. and, finally, add divine love to brotherly love.
最后，有了爱弟兄的心，又要加上爱众人的心。
123. Peter says that, in the Christian life, you either go up or go down.
彼得告诉我们，基督徒的生命，不进则退。
124. You cannot stand still.
你不可能停顿不动的。
125. Peter tells us in verse 9 that, if you ignore this seven-story building,
彼得在第九节那里告诉我们，如果你忽视了这座七层大厦的建造，
126. you will be ineffective and unfruitful and you will be shortsighted and forgetful.
你属灵的生命就会毫无功效，不结果子，你会变得目光短浅，甚至忘恩负义。
127. Your Christian life will be like those who are boxing at shadows.
你的基督徒生活就会像那些打空拳的人一样。
128. To be sure, you may have knowledge,
也许你很有知识，
129. but if you don’t put into practice the knowledge that you have,
但是，如果你不把这些知识实践到你的生活中，
130. Peter is saying that this is short-sightedness
彼得说，这就是眼瞎，
131. and it will even blind you to the greatest gift that you have,
使你对所赐给你的恩典视而不见，
132. and that is the redemption by the Lord Jesus Christ.
就是耶稣基督所赐给你救赎的恩典。
133. Today, you can ask for divine power to help you build this seven-story building;
今天，你可以向神祈求，建造这座七层大厦的属天能力。
134. but, for some of you, you may not have started with the foundation yet,
但是，也许有些人还没有开始打这座大厦的地基，
135. and that’s where you have to start.
你现在就开始吧。
136. Ask God to give you the gift of faith to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ,
祈求神将相信主耶稣基督的信心赏赐给你，
137. and, after you have the foundation, you can be ready to build that seven-story building.
打好了这个根基以后，你就可以在上面建造7层大厦了。
138. It is my prayer that you will do that today.
我为你祷告，让你从现在就开始。
