1. Hello, listening friends.
亲爱的朋友,你好。

2. Thank you for tuning in.
感谢你收听。

3. In the last message,
上次节目中,

4. we saw how Jesus did not fall in Satan’s temptation of temporary pleasure;
我们讲到了,耶稣没有为了一时的享乐而掉进魔鬼的试探里;

5. not even for a good meal, when He was starving.
虽然当时的耶稣,已经饿得饥肠辘辘,祂却没有为了食物而上魔鬼的当。

6. When the devil saw that his trick had been stumped,
当撒但看到它的计谋破败以后,

7. he tried another one.
它就开始了第二攻势。

8. Now, Satan tempts Jesus with quick popularity.
于是,撒但想出另一招来引诱祂,就是让耶稣一夜成名。

9. What Satan was saying to Jesus was this:
撒但对耶稣说:

10. “If You won’t be distracted from Your mission,
“既然你对自己的使命这么执着,

11. let me show You a shortcut to Your goal.”
我就告诉你一条捷径,保证你马到成功。”

12. Let’s read again, Matthew, Chapter 4, verses 5 to 7.
我们来读马太福音第4章,5-7节。

13. Satan and Jesus could stand on the highest point of the Temple;
那个时候,撒但和耶稣也许真的是站在圣殿的平顶上;

14. but, often, when Satan tempts us, he tempts us in our minds.
可是,今天,撒但却常常在我们心里试探我们。

15. He presents a picture to our imagination;
牠在我们的想象中呈现一幅图画;

16. so, why did Satan tempt Jesus to jump off the pinnacle of the Temple?
那么,撒但为什么要让耶稣从殿顶上跳下去呢?

17. What would Jesus gain by that?
这样做,对耶稣有什么好处呢?

18. Let me explain.
我来解释给你听。

19. The Temple was a public place
要知道,圣殿是一个公共场所。

20. and, during feasts and holy days, millions of pilgrims would come into Jerusalem to be around the Temple area.
每逢盛大节日的时候,成千上万的朝圣者都会聚集在耶路撒冷的圣殿周围。

21. If Jesus jumped from the high point of the Temple and landed safely,
假如耶稣从殿顶上跳下去而毛发无损的话,

22. He would have been an instant sensation.
祂立刻就会一鸣惊人。

23. The Jews would have looked for the kind of ruler who would do spectacular miracles.
犹太人一直期盼着一位神通广大的统治者。

24. They were looking for a Messiah who would display amazing feats;
他们一直以来都在等候具有奇功异能的弥赛亚;

25. but Jesus knew why He came to the Earth.
然而,耶稣很清楚祂降世为人的目的。

26. He came to reign and to rule
不错,祂来是要执掌王权,

27. over the hearts of men and women, boys and girls;
要掌管世上每个人的心;

28. and He knew that ruling and reigning would come only after He had gone to the cross.
但祂晓得,只有当祂走上十字架之后,祂的王权才能够实现。

29. He knew that His road would lead Him through hardship and rejection.
祂明白,祂所走的路,必定要经历患难,遭人弃绝。

30. He knew that any temporary popularity He gains, He would quickly lose it;
祂晓得,现在取得的短暂声望,都只不过是昙花一现;

31. so, His miracles were mostly on the quiet, and even secretive.
因此,祂所行的大部分神迹都是在暗中悄悄做的。

32. They were not for a show or a spectacle.
这些神迹并不是为了要让祂扬名立万的。

33. His miracles were for relief of people’s pain.
祂行神迹的目的是要解除人们的痛苦,

34. They were for the forgiveness of their sin.
也要饶恕他们的罪孽。

35. Jesus knew that His large following would only be possible after the cross.
耶稣明白,只有当祂在十字架上被举起来之后,才能吸引万人来跟随祂。

36. Satan was offering Jesus a way out.
撒但却要祂另辟蹊径。

37. He was offering Him an opportunity to become popular right away with many people.
魔鬼向祂提出一个能吸引群众,一夜成名的机会。

38. No one would be able to forget a spectacle like jumping from the top of the Temple;
一个人从殿顶上跳下去而不受伤,可是一件令人难忘,了不起的大事儿呢;

39. so, Jesus had a choice.
所以,摆在耶稣面前的是两种选择。

40. He could go the long way, the arduous path, that the Father had laid out for Him,
一种是走父神为祂预备的那条艰难而漫长的受苦之路,

41. or, He could take Satan’s shortcut.
另一种是撒但所提供的捷径。

42. As we know, Jesus rejected Satan’s way.
结果,我们知道,耶稣拒绝了撒但。

43. He chose to follow His Father’s plan and will.
祂选择了顺从父神的计划和旨意。

44. Satan was tempting Jesus to sin in two ways:
撒但用一箭双雕的方式来试探耶稣:

45. to draw attention to Himself, and to test God.
一方面,牠以获得群众的拥戴来试探耶稣;另一方面,牠引诱耶稣怀疑神。

46. First, Satan asks Jesus to exalt Himself;
首先,撒但要求耶稣高抬自己,

47. but Jesus told us that the greatest among you will be the servant of all,
但是,耶稣却教导我们说,你们中间最大的,反要成为最小的,

48. for whoever exalts himself will be humbled,
因为凡自高的必降为卑,

49. and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
自卑的必升为高。

50. In other words, God does not like showoffs.
也就是说,神不喜欢我们自高自大。

51. The second sin placed before Jesus was testing God.
另一方面,魔鬼怂恿耶稣怀疑神。

52. Satan asked Jesus to demand that God the Father perform a miracle on request.
撒但叫耶稣,向神求一件神迹,

53. Jesus’ answer to this temptation was again from Deuteronomy, Chapter 6, verse 16.
耶稣的回答同样来自申命记6章16节。

54. “Do not test the Lord your God as you did at Massah.”
“你们不可试探耶和华你们的神,像你们在玛撒那样试探祂。”

55. “Massah” is a word that means “testing”.
“玛撒” 这个字就是“试探” 的意思。

56. It is the name Moses gave to Rephidim.
是摩西给利非订那个地方所起的名字。

57. This was the place where God’s people quarreled with Moses, when they did not have water.
玛撒,是以色列人因为没水喝,就和摩西争闹的地方,

58. It was a place where they doubted the presence of God.
玛撒也是他们怀疑神同在的地方。

59. After all that God did for them, in providing for them,
虽然神供养他们一切的需要,

60. freeing them from slavery,
把他们从为奴之家领出来,

61. guiding them with a pillar of clouds and fire,
用云柱火柱引导他们,

62. providing food for them,
为他们预备食物,

63. they still doubted God again and again;
可他们却一再地怀疑神的同在;

64. but what happened at that time?
结果怎样呢?

65. They fell prey to Satan’s temptation,
他们落入了撒但的试探当中,

66. temptation to order God to fulfill His promise on their own timetable.
他们强要神按着他们自己定的时间,来实现神对他们的应许。

67. They were thirsty and wanted water immediately.
当他们干渴时,立刻就要水喝。

68. The people of God, like many of us,
这些以色列人就跟我们一样,

69. they were looking at their relationship with God in a backward way.
他们把自己和神之间的关系整个颠倒过来了。

70. They should have remembered that God had chosen them and they did not choose God.
他们应该晓得,不是他们拣选了神,而是神拣选了他们。

71. God was not obligated to supply them with water the moment they demanded it;
神没有义务在他们要水喝的时候,就立马供给他们;

72. instead, they were obligated to obey and trust God.
相反地,他们应该听从并顺服神。

73. They were to humbly pray for what they needed.
他们应该为所需要的一切谦恭地向神祷告。

74. They were to submissively wait for God’s answer.
然后,安静等候神。

75. By contrast, Jesus trusted that the Father is with Him.
主耶稣跟以色列人不同,祂坚信父神与祂同在。

76. Jesus trusted the Father’s proclamation when He said, “This is My beloved Son whom I love and in whom I am well pleased.”
耶稣相信天父对祂说的话:“这是我的爱子,我所喜悦的。”

77. Jesus did not need a grandiose miracle to prove that He was the Son of God.
耶稣不需要用神迹证明祂是神的儿子。

78. Jesus knew that, to test God, would have been sinful;
因为耶稣知道,试探神,就是犯罪;

79. and He, the sinless Son of God, cannot sin.
而且,作为神的儿子,祂是不能犯罪的。

80. People today are still using temples as their own jumping-off point for personal success.
今天,我们常常利用从殿顶上跳下去的方式,以促成个人的成功。

81. Many false teachers proclaim themselves to speak for God;
很多假师傅声称,他们所传讲的,是神的旨意;

82. but will the God of the universe let these people manipulate Him?
难道掌管宇宙的神会被这些人所操控吗?

83. No, He will not.
决不会的。

84. Sometimes, as believers, we feel that we must make God look good,
有时候,我们身为基督徒的认为,应该让神看起来更光彩一点,

85. or have a good image,
或者说,我们把神当成了偶像,

86. but what is image?
什么是偶像呢?

87. An image can be an exact replica;
偶像既可以是一件复制品;

88. but it also can be a counterfeit.
也可以是伪造的。

89. The Bible puts little emphasis on image,
圣经很少提到偶像,

90. except to say that we are not to worship it.
只说,我们不可以敬拜偶像。

91. When God sent the Prophet Samuel to the house of Jesse to anoint a new king,
当神差遣撒母耳到耶西家里去膏立犹太人的王时,

92. Samuel was initially impressed with Jesse’s older son.
起先,撒母耳对耶西的大儿子印象非常好。

93. Listen to what the Scripture says,
在圣经里,

94. in 1 Samuel, Chapter 16, and verse 6:
撒母耳记上16章6节说:

95. “When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, ‘Surely the Lord’s anointed stands before the Lord.’”
他们来的时候,撒母耳看见以利押,就心里说:“‘耶和华的受膏者必定在他面前。’”

96. But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.”
耶和华却对撒母耳说:“不要看他的外貌和他身材高大,我不拣选他。”

97. You see, my beloved friends, the Lord does not look at the things we look at.
看到了吧,我亲爱的朋友,神看人不像我们。

98. We look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks upon the heart.
我们是看人的外貌,但耶和华是看人的内心。

99. More and more, I see that the worship of God has become a matter of image.
我越来越发现,很多时候,我们把敬拜神变成了拜偶像。

SECTION B
乙部

1. Why do many Christians become so enthralled with image?
为什么这么多的信徒变得如此重视外表的形象呢?

2. Here is the answer:
答案就是:

3. they are substituting image for obedience to God.
他们用偶像代替了顺服神。

4. The single, most serious problem which results from substitution of image for obedience is this:
以偶像代替神,形成了严重的结果,那就是:

5. the Gospel message is often compromised in an effort to impress the world;
福音的信息往往为了吸引世界的注意而采取妥协的立场,失去原则;

6. but the Bible tells us what kind of image will impress the world.
然而,圣经告诉我们,怎样才能让世上的人留下深刻的印象呢?

7. In John, Chapter 13, verses 34 and 35, Jesus said,
在约翰福音13章34-35节里,耶稣说:

8. “A new commandment I give to you:
我赐给你们一条新命令,

9. Love one another. As I have loved you,
乃是叫你们彼此相爱;我怎样爱你们,

10. so you must love one another.
你们也要怎样相爱。

11. By this all men will know that you are My Disciples, if you love one another.”
你们若有彼此相爱的心,众人因此就认出你们是我的门徒了。”

12. The world is not impressed with our attempts to impress them;
如果我们故意要给世人留下好印象,就会适得其反;

13. but, when we have the real love of Jesus Christ in our hearts,
但是,如果耶稣基督的爱在我们心中,

14. the world will know it.
别人都能够看得见。

15. My listening friend, listen very carefully, as we conclude.
我亲爱的朋友,在结束的时候,请听我说。

16. When Satan succeeds in diverting our attention from God to image,
当撒但把我们的注意力从神那里转移到偶像身上的时候,

17. he renders us ineffective.
我们就不能有效地为神做见证了。

18. My prayer is that we will never lose our passion and our love for God,
求神让我们不要失去对神专一的爱,

19. but that we will show the world the power of Jesus Christ by loving one another;
我们要借着彼此相爱,向世界证明耶稣基督的大能;

20. but, if you are a person who does not know Jesus in a personal way,
假如你今天还没有认耶稣基督为你个人的救主,

21. do not put off the decision to seek Him,
盼望你今天就立志跟随祂,不要再拖延了,

22. for all the snares and temptations of life won’t get you real peace.
因为人生中满布着网罗与诱惑,使你无法得到真正的平安。

23. Only Jesus can.
唯有耶稣能赐给你真实的平安。
