1. Hello, listening friends.

2. Thank you for tuning in.

3. Some of you may have heard of the film, “The Passion of the Christ.”

4. That film caused people to ask questions, such as, “Who is Jesus?”

5. “Why did He die?”

6. and, “Who killed Him?”

7. “Who is responsible for the killing of Jesus?”

8. and, “Why did He have to die?”

9. and, “Why three-billion people in the world today claim Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord?”

10. Historical accounts indicate that there were three human players in Christ’s death.

11. Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus’ own Disciples, delivered Him to the High Priest out of greed;

12. and the Chief Priest handed Jesus over to the Roman authority, out of envy of Jesus’ power and popularity;
第二方是大祭司,因为嫉妒耶稣的能力和群众对祂的拥戴,就把耶稣交给了罗马政府;

13. and, then, the Roman authority, led by Pontius Pilate, crucified Jesus out of cowardice and miscarriaging of justice.

14. If these three entities are to be blamed, why would not the matter end there?

15. Because there is a whole lot more to Jesus’ crucifixion than these three.

16. More than Judas’ greed,

17. or the High Priest’s envy,

18. or Pontius Pilate’s cowardice.

19. To be sure, Jesus was crucified unjustly;
当然,耶稣被钉十字架的确是一件冤案;

20. but He did not die as a martyr.

21. On the contrary,

22. Jesus went to the cross voluntarily and, even, deliberately.

23. From the beginning of His public ministry,

24. He declared that it was for the cross that He was born.

25. Jesus told His Disciples repeatedly,

26. “The Good Shepherd lays down His life for His sheep.”
27. Jesus said, “I lay down My life.

28. Nobody takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord...”

29. then, who is ultimately responsible for Jesus’ death?

30. On a human level, there are people who delivered Him to death;
从人的角度来看,的确是某些人把耶稣置于死地;

31. but, on the divine level,

32. the Father gave Him up out of love,

33. and God the Son gave Himself up to die for us;
也是为了爱我们,圣子耶稣才把命舍去;

34. so, it is His love which is responsible for Jesus’ death.

35. His love hung Him on that cross.

36. His love crucified Him.

37. Some of you, probably, are asking by now, “But, why?

38. Could there have been another way?”

39. The answer is "no."

40. From the very beginning, when our first parents rebelled against God’s command and wanted to do their own will,

41. they brought judgment, not only upon themselves, but, also, on the entire human race.

42. They brought condemnation, not just on themselves, but on all of their descendants;
不但他们自己被定罪,他们所有的子孙后代都被定罪;

43. and God’s justice demands that each of us should perfectly keep God’s commandments.

44. If you cannot perfectly keep the commandments, you are guilty of all of them;
如果我们犯了其中任何一条,就是犯了全律法;

45. and, in the courts of Heaven, this guilt of breaking of the commandments is punishable by eternity in torment;

46. but who could keep God’s commandments perfectly?

47. The answer is “no one.”

48. I couldn’t.

49. You couldn’t.

50. No one could.

51. Now, you see the dilemma here.

52. God’s justice needed to be met.

53. God’s demand for perfection had to be satisfied;
神需要我们一丝不苟地遵守全律法;

54. and, thus, God’s justice had placed all of humanity in a predicament.

55. You say, “But that’s not fair,”

56. and God agreed with you;
不错,神很清楚这一点;

57. and, therefore, God, Himself, had to provide the solution to this dilemma.

58. God, Himself, provided a way out of this impossibility;
祂要亲自在沙漠中开出江河来;

59. and, right after Adam and Eve were thrown out of the Garden of Eden,

60. God’s plan for providing a solution to our dilemma began to be unfolded.

61. What was it?

62. What is God’s plan?

63. That God, Himself, will come from Heaven in human flesh and live a perfect life,

64. to perfectly keep all of God’s commandments;
祂将一丝不苟的完全遵守神的律法;

65. then, offer His perfect life as a sacrifice to redeem all who will accept His payment to be for them.

66. Jesus’ coming from Heaven to die was not an afterthought.

67. Jesus’ life was not just a story of a perfect man, who lived a perfect life.

68. He is all of that, but more.

69. He is the only One who could pay our eternal-death sentence.

70. Our sin, with which we are born, is an offense to God.

71. Our sin of independence from God is an offense to Him;
我们想脱离神的管辖,结果犯罪得罪了神;

72. and somebody must pay for that offense;
犯了罪,就要承担罪的后果;

73. and God said, “I will do the paying.

74. I will send My Son to do the paying;”

75. and, so, God the Father, and God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, who co-existed forever as one God made the decision

76. that the Son will be born in human flesh;
就是﹕圣子将要降世为人;

77. that the Son will pay;
圣子要来偿还罪债;

78. that the Son will hang on the cross;
圣子要被钉死在十字架上;

79. that the Son, for a brief moment, will become separated from the Father,

80. because the Son has to carry the sin of the world upon His body;
因为圣子要把全人类的罪都担在自己身上;

81. and, because the Father could not look upon the Son while He was carrying the sin of the world on His holy body on the cross;
圣子在十字架上担当了所有的罪孽,甚至连圣父都掩面不看祂;

82. and, thus, the Father and the Son were separated for that brief moment.

83. My listening friend, this is very important.

84. The cross was far more than the physical pain.

85. The greatest sacrifice of all was that brief moment of separation between the Father and the Son;
耶稣所付出的最大牺牲乃是,祂和圣父之间的隔离;

86. but some of you, my listening friends, you may be still asking,

87. “You mean to say that Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection were God’s plan all along?”

88. That’s exactly right,

89. from the very beginning.
